I'd like to preface this article by saying that the purpose I began writing this piece was to showcase my professional skillset in a creative way on my LinkedIn profile. With that being said - if it sounds like this is something I should be saying in an interview - that's because it is. Regardless, I hope you're able to garner some sort of inspiration and begin crafting a story all your own.
The world is run by storytellers. Sometimes stories are represented through comedic interpretation, sometimes by corporate executives trying to inspire their organization, and sometimes – by everyday people looking to find their purpose. Once I heard the quote, “The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to give you questions to think upon.” So, I began reflecting on the story I want to tell…
I get things done.
At the core of what I do, I find a way to solve problems. Often times I am the first to develop a plan, find answers to difficult questions and develop actionable solutions to the problems I face.
I’m most comfortable when I’m speaking.
From a young age, I’ve had a love for presenting which eventually developed into my passion for people. Being able to explain complex topics in a digestible way is one of my greatest strengths and having the poise to deliver presentations, client conversations, and speeches with confidence is what sets me apart from my peers.
The world matters to me.
Our world is changing every day and it’s up to us to protect it. I take Environmental, Social, and Governance topics seriously and work with clients daily to strategize their sustainability goals and help them develop a plan that their investors, employees, and eco-conscious stakeholders can be proud of.
Every day is an accomplishment.
I’m so incredibly proud of where I am in life and consider every day as an opportunity to be grateful. However, in that same breath, I’m never satisfied. There is a competitive fire in me that inspires me to never stop striving for the next goal, the next milestone – the next day that I consider an accomplishment.
Consistency compounds.
If I can get 1% better every day, then I have been successful. Some days are harder than others to garner the motivation to check off my “to-do” list but I always ensure to get it done. One time I heard the quote, “I’d rather be consistently good than occasionally great.” I believe that wholeheartedly.
Today, in my role as a storyteller, I look within myself to determine ways to inspire those around me to be their best selves. This translates into my work as a consultant by providing me an outlet to engage with clients on a daily basis. I get to lead interactions with executive team members from Fortune 500 companies because of my ability to portray solutions in a comprehensible and engaging way. It’s because of my passion for storytelling that I’m able to serve our firm’s largest clients with confidence and knowledge.
